The Plankton and Algae Course will focus on finding solutions to drinking water problems caused by Algae, from taste and odor to clogging filters in water treatment, to harmful algal blooms. These new challenges necessitate an increased awareness, knowledge, and understanding by water professionals in dealing with problems caused by algae. The three-day course will provide the tools necessary for identification, sampling, forecasting, treatment and prevention of water supply problems associated with algal blooms.

  • Lake Association Members 

At the conclusion of this short course, you will be able to:

  1. Objective 1 – Identify common plankton and algae in the Great Lakes area
  2. Objective 2 – Become familiar with plankton and algae sampling methods
  3. Objective 3 -  By case study examples; make water treatment decisions based on plankton algae issues
